The most important tool for member empowerment is organizing. A union is only as strong as it is organized.

I have lived this reality personally over the past 40 years, first as a rank-and-file pit and recording musician and committee chair, then as Local 802 President and IEB member, and for the past three years as your International President.

The bedrock of organizing is the education of current leaders and those who will become leaders. I believe we must commit ourselves to education at every level and to building organizing models tailored to the unique realities of our business and all of its varied disciplines. These are my priorities.
